How long have you lived in German Village? And what attracted you to this neighborhood?
We moved here three years ago. German Village is just a beautiful, charming neighborhood. When we re-located to Ohio from New Jersey seven years ago, we fell in love with the neighborhood. We really enjoy the walkability and the close proximity to so many great restaurants. Having Barcelona and Lindey’s just a short walk away is a wonderful luxury. Who else is in your family?
No other humans, but we do have Stella, our two-and-a-half- year-old border collie. She’s the happiest, friendliest pup. She doesn’t just wag her tail; she does a full-body “happy dance” when we bump into people while out on walks. Where were you born and raised?
Geoff in Cincinnati; Jenn in Cranford, New Jersey. Have you had any special German Village “moments” you’d care to share?
While enjoying some wine with our neighbors on their front terrace a while back, a well-dressed gentleman walking by with a cello stopped and performed for us. That’s not something that happens in most other parts of the city. |
You mentioned Barcelona, Lindey’s and Schiller Park. What are some of your other favorites?
We also love Fox in the Snow on the rare morning when we have nothing else going on. Hausfrau Haven is a wonderful spot and is our regular starting point for weekend evenings out. But the best, for certain, is Village Lights in early December. What are your occupations and other activities?
Jenn is Director of Editorial Services for Lumina Datamatics, which does content development for educational resource publishers. She also teaches “HIIT”-style boot camp classes at Seven Studios, downtown. Geoff owns and manages VeloScience Bike Works in New Albany, a bike shop focused on road, triathlon and gravel-riding enthusiasts. He also coaches and consults with endurance athletes and spends much time helping the local cycling and triathlon communities flourish. You mentioned boot camp and biking. What other hobbies or volunteer activities do you enjoy in your free time?
Jenn is a dedicated runner. We’re also foodies and wine lovers, and we really enjoy trying new restaurants around Columbus and anywhere we travel. We’re lucky to be able to travel frequently, with annual trips to the Caribbean, Italy and Sonoma County, California. Jenn often volunteers with Besa, which connects people with local charities. And Geoff is a huge supporter of both Pelotonia and the Ohio Honor Project, a resource center for Central Ohio veterans. |
What have you found to be the best part of living in the Village?
We’ve formed a wonderful conglomeration of friends here. It seems we all have a shared appreciation for the German Village lifestyle.
Care to add anything else?
We love that German Village is protective of its heritage.
That adds so much value to our community.
