The first residents we have in the database for 240 Jackson Street were Adam Goldschmied and his wife Josephia. Goldschmied was a German born immigrant (1822) who lived there as early as 1880 with their three children Mary, Andrew, and Catherine. In 1908, Katherine Kiner, a widow and native of Germany who was born in 1833 and immigrated in 1874, lived there with her daughter Louise Swartz and Louise's husband, Charles, a worker for an express company. Rufus Lawles, a shoe worker, lived there from as early as 1920 till 1956 with his wife Daisy, and their daughters Mildred and Rita.
