How long have you lived in the German Village area?
I moved to German Village in 1988 when I got a divorce and needed to figure out where to live. I had friends in this area. It was either downtown or the country. They talked me into downtown. I have never regretted it. Favorite food(s)/restaurants?
How can you choose a favorite restaurant in this area? I love Lindeys, Giuseppes, Old Mohawk, Local Cantina, Indian Oven. It just depends on your mood and preference at the time which is one of the things that makes this areas culinary diversity so wonderful. |
Favorite things to do in the area?
Again – there is so much to do, how can you choose? I love the Shakespeare in the Park at Schiller in the summer, Frank Fetch Park concerts, walking my dogs in Schiller Park, Village Valuables, Christmas Luminary Night, the lighting of the tree in Frank Fetch at Christmas, volunteering at the Haus und Garten Tour, Garten Club educational meetings and socials. What trips are you planning for 2022? Favorite vacation
and why? A small group of us is planning a trip to Alaska this year. I have many favorite travel locations – it’s hard to pick. I loved northern Italy, Peru, Ireland, and Kenya. And I am sure my favorite one is still out there. Favorite drink(s) in the area?
I think my favorite drink is a Grey Goose Martini on my back porch in the summer. |
Tell us about your pets.
I have two Golden Retrievers, Lincoln and Willow. I show them in many venues – agility, obedience, rally, barn hunt and scent work. Lincoln is also a therapy dog and we make visits to the local colleges and universities. What do you do to stay in shape?
I do yoga twice a week and walk my dogs daily. The agility training and showing would keep anyone in shape. Favorite flower?
I’m a gardener so picking a favorite flower is impossible. I love to create my latest work of art in my garden. And then sit on my porch. Favorite color?
If you drive by my house I think you will know that my favorite color is red. |
When did you start painting? What inspires you?
My mother was an art teacher. I always say that I had a paintbrush in my hand before I had a pencil. That doesn’t make you good, it just makes you willing. I usually get my inspiration from a picture or an idea that I then look for a visual to start the process. I love using dark and shadings to set a mood and challenge the picture. |

Favorite artist?
My favorite artist is also hard to narrow to just one. I love the impressionists but I paint realism. Again – any artist that uses the light to accentuate the painting is a favorite at that moment. I do love Joe Lombardo too.

Since my world is so focused on dog behavior and training I put my volunteer time in them also. I teach beginners obedience and beginners barn hunt at my training club. It is all volunteer.
