of the many benefits of living in German Village, a European looking urban neighborhood, is the close proximity we have to each others homes. It easily enables us to have themed progressive dinner parties where we can enjoy different courses in multiple homes.
We decided it was time to do a 'Spanish Soirée' celebrating Iberian cuisine and some traditions. |
Our first stop was with Jan (desk job pharmacist), Steve, Julie (infectious disease physician/expert) and Susan (Jan's date for the night/realtor) for herbaceous olives, richly spiced lamb meatballs and tangy gazpacho paired nicely with a citrus cocktail.

Our second stop was with J & S and Pam (Columbus Museum of Art expert) & Carl (Nicaraguan foodie) for tapas, tapas and tapas!!
The evening included some castanet action with a few of the guests. Unfortunately, no video.
We enjoyed yummy roasted almonds, an intricately layered potato omelet, crostini, tasty roasted chicken skewers and missing is a picture of the extraordinary bacon wrapped dates that were sinfully delicious!

TRES brought us dinner and dessert.
Starting with a chicken drumsticks, shrimp, mussels and chorizo Paella paired with the choice of Sangria, Albariño or Rioja wine. You can find the paella recipe in this edition.
Our finale was Tarta de Santiago a traditional almond cake named in honor of Saint James the patron saint of Spain. An almond filled delight. Served with a creamy, lick your plate clean, caramel Flan and the Spanish vanilla citrus Licor 43.
