This will be my second year as the House Admiral, for the Haus und Garten Tour, with the responsibility of organizing the logistical needs of each homeowner along with staffing each home with a House Captain and the correct number of volunteers. Its been such an honor to be a part of this historical event for the past 10 years, in various capacities. I hope that you will consider getting involved this year in whatever capacity works best for you! This community appreciates all levels of support.
The Haus und Garten Tour is the largest fundraiser for the German Village Society. Without the help of volunteers it absolutely could not happen. When I first moved to German Village, I was encouraged to sign up as a volunteer to get to know my neighbors and give back to my community.
I started as a House Host Volunteer, who's responsibility it is to greet guests touring the home and share talking points about the homes unique features. This role is the most needed volunteer responsibility and the time commitment is just 2 1/2 hours. This is a great way to help the community and meet new neighbors. It is encouraged to volunteer with friends and make an afternoon of it! It is easy to sign up for a shift by going to the website GermanVillage.com, choosing the home and time slot that works best for you, and entering your contact information.
If being a host volunteer isn't your speed, volunteers are also needed to help with operations, selling tickets, and helping to host pre-tour dinners.
