My maternal grandfather, who was a semiprofessional photographer, was my first influence. I started when I was a teenager, left it, and came back to photography about twelve years ago.
I am deeply influenced (at the philosophical level) by the work of American photographer William Eggleston. I also very much enjoy the work of the artists promoted by Alfred Stieglitz, and also the artists of the Ashcan School. My work, though not directly influenced by it, is highly informed by the street/graffiti art movement.

I have been exhibiting my work professionally in Central Ohio since the Fall of 2017 and currently not represented by any gallery. I regularly participate in group exhibits throughout Central Ohio. My first solo exhibit was with the German Village Society in the Spring of 2020.

I regularly publish work on my Instagram feed (phil64justlooking), and in the Facebook group The Art and Artists of 614.
I am currently working on a project which involves interviewing and photographing autodidactic (self-taught) creatives, with the goals of curating an exhibition and publishing a book in about a year or two.
My husband and I have been residents of German Village since 1999, and homeowners since 2000. Our favorite spots in the Village are Frank Fetch Park, Schiller Park, and our small backyard garden. An important part of my work as a photographer is to walk through the streets and the alleys of the South End (including German Village) and photograph found objects.

I am open about being a late-diagnosed autistic person, and also about struggling with anxiety and depression, because being so has been beneficial for myself and many other people. I have an ongoing relationship with Fresh A.I.R. Gallery, a program that is operated under the auspices of Southeast Healthcare. Its purpose is to support and promote the work of artists who are affected (either directly or indirectly) by mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders.
