From Mike:
My interest in photography began with an unexpected birthday gift from my wife, Samantha (Sam):
a darkroom class. The experience revealed to me the magic of black-and-white film, highlighting the power of capturing moments that are devoid of color yet full of significance.

I am originally from the UK, and moved to the US in 2001. My journey has transitioned from earning a PhD in science to a career in the medical communications industry, fueled by a passion for making a difference in patients lives.
Beyond my professional path, I've nurtured a deep-seated interest in photography. My goal is to be a visual storyteller transforming simple scenes into beauty through black-and-white photography, reshaping narratives with this captivating medium.
Our move to German Village was inspired by its rich historical texture and vibrant community life.
A sense of familiarity akin to our UK roots. The village's unique charm and the broader, vibrant canvas of Columbus and Ohio provide an ideal backdrop for my photography.

Having resided in German Village for nearly 20 years, my connection to this place has deepened,
enriching my work with authenticity and a profound sense of belonging. This intimate relationship with the community and its surroundings has been crucial in my ongoing visual journey.

A notable achievement in my early journey was winning 1st place in both the architecture and black-and-white sections for two prints in the 2005 Columbus Alive photography contest, a publication that once played a vibrant role in our community's cultural life but, sadly, no longer exists.
After moving to German Village, I set up a darkroom in our basement, hoping to recreate this monochromatic magic. However, the birth of our son, Ethan, 14 years ago necessitated closing the darkroom to accommodate our growing family. Thankfully, the rise of digital photography has allowed me to continue my creative exploration. Recently, I had the honor of photographing for the cover story titled Still High School Sweethearts in the February edition of Bexley Magazine.

Inspiration in my craft stems from the belief that the absence of color makes imagery more poignant,
expressions more compelling, and details more pronounced. Becoming a father and transitioning from film to digital photography have only deepened my commitment to capturing life's moments in stark, beautiful black and white.

My love for travel and capturing images during those journeys serves as an endless source of inspiration. Within our family, I am the documentarian, capturing our life's moments and milestones.
I offer prints designed to introduce the timeless elegance of black and white into any setting. As a
passionate hobbyist, I am committed to crafting monochrome memories that inspire and resonate with both photography enthusiasts and art collectors alike.
