Brandywine Valley
Brandywine Valley
I was lured to Brandywine Valley when Hurricane Debby interrupted my visit with my dear friend Beth who lives close to the sea around Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Given there would be a few days of rain in the forecast, we decided to head northwest to the mansions and gardens of the Dupont family outside of Wilmington.
|
The trip inspired me to look into the Dupont family founder legacy. I did not know Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours (Dupont) who emigrated to the United States from France was affiliated with King Louis XVI. He defended Louis and Marie Antoinette at the Tuillaries and was sentenced to the guillotine, but was spared. Was an liurchase.
Demours Mansion and Garden showcases a and a Versaille inspired garden.

After the helicopter ride, the next delight was an hour-long scenic coastal tour on a vintage sidecar motorcycle. The evening was topped off with a delicous sunset seaside dinner!
MICATO SAFARIS
During the summer I went to Brandywine Valley, which is in Pennsylvania and Delaware. I recommend it for a quick getaway to a beautiful area. with fabulous DuPont mansions and gardens, art .You may want to go there too. It is a very beautiful area, seasonally attractive and easy to get to. Take a quick flight to Philadelphia, rent a car and be there in less than an hour.

MAASAI VILLAGE in the MARA
From Jan Rinehart:
We were invited to a Maasai village in the Mara. What a moving experience it was. Ken Stikeleather was made a Maasai elder in recognition of his 24 years with Micato Safaris. Led by the Chief, the ceremony included cow’s blood, milk and more!

NAIROBI
Micato provided a foster elephant for everyone in the group! John and I had baby Mzinga. She was so sweet!
