It's 2025, and I am so excited to reach 25 years as a cancer survivor. This year I am running for the LLS Visionaries of the Year designation by raising funds and awareness for cancer research and treatments. Below are a few upcoming fundraisers:
My cancer story began in early 2000 when I noticed an odd lymph node on my neck. Tests revealed Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Stage 2. Over the spring and summer, I received four months of chemotherapy followed by a month of targeted radiation. Due to countless people donating to cancer research along with the tireless work of researchers and medical professionals years before my diagnosis, the cancer was stopped and cleared. I am celebrating 25 wonderful years without cancer!
German Village is such a fabulous neighborhood. When I was diagnosed in 2000, the community rallied around me. I received food, flowers, cards, calls, visits. It was just amazing. I felt loved and supported while in the midst of anxiety in the beginning when I did not know what was happening. Then, as the difficult treatments continued, I felt the love. German Village was and IS family. One very special neighbor left a note on my front door step EVERY morning through my treatment - weekdays and weekends - every day!
Week three into this ten week Campaign, German Villagers have been wonderful! Not only donations, but kinds words and encouragement have come my way. It seems as if every person I talk to has stories of other family and friends who have been touched by cancer. We are all affected.
Paris marathon in 2010. I was10 years out of cancer, and ran the marathon to fundraise for the LLS Team in Training.

Through the years, the German Village community love continues for me - and for so many others. We look after each other; we support each other; we care for each other. Even the valets at Lindey's pick up on it and care for the neighbors. It is a very special place that I am so proud to call my home for over 35 years.
