A Late August Stroll through Frank Fetch Park
Frank Fetch Park is a beautifully maintained neighborhood pocket park primarily cared for by the German Village Garten Club. Situated on .2 acres, the lot in the 1800s housed four small saltbox houses. By the early 1960s' all that remained was an old ice house. In 1962, Frank Fetch, the founder of German Village and also president of German Village Society, pressured the City of Columbus to buy the property. The park originally was styled as a 19th century German beer garden with brick walls, walkways, flowerpots and gas lit lighting and named Beck Street Park. In 1985, it was renamed the Frank Fetch Park to memorialize him after he passed away. The park has been improved numerous times through the efforts of the German Village Garten Club with fundraisers such as the German Village Garten Markt held every May. In 2026, the 60th anniversary of the club, they are celebrating and raising money with Project Gnome, The Gnome Gala & Auction.
